5 Tips on How to be a Vlogger…

By on

When you have decided to take the plunge and be a vlogger (blogger that does video), there are several things that you must remember.

These tips will allow you to have a video blog that individuals actually want to see, and it will keep your blog informative and entertaining!

1.The first tip is to make sure that you keep all of your vlog entries short and sweet.  We live in a fast paced world and people have really short attention spans.  Try and keep it under 3 minutes.  Two minutes is a good time limit.

If you feel your vlog will take longer than the suggested amount of time, either don’t talk about it or make it into a multi-post vlog.

2. When you are recording your video blog, make sure there is no background noise. Many times, individuals will tune out what you’re trying to say, and will focus on the background noise, or they will simply leave your blog.  Microphones work wonders!

3. Make sure that you utilize close-ups instead of long distance shots. It’s the same principle as in the real world, you most likely would not pay attention to a person who was trying to give you information and facts from across the room, so don’t set up your video to where you are far away from the camera.

If you are at the correct distance,  your chest will be  visible. You don’t want to show your whole body, because you would be too far away from your audience.

4. Lighting– The best times of day to record outside are the golden hours of dawn and dusk. If you can’t do it during those rapidly closing windows of your day, do your best to avoid bright direct sunlight. If it is bright, record your video in the shade.  Never have your face directly in the sun.  Also never have the camera directly face the sun.  Keep it at a 45 degree angle.
A great way that many people utilize outdoor lighting is by sitting near a window. Have your face towards the window.  Never point the camera towards the window.

Videos are much more powerful than photos, because the video actually places you in a moving scene, instead of a stagnant one.

5. Be Yourself – Don’t worry about what other people think of you.  What people think about you is none of your business.  You will have people who absolutely adore you and you will have haters.  It doesn’t matter if you are the most attractive, smartest, person in the world…you will always have haters.

Be your unique awesome you.  People will love you…I promise.
